A film about growing up in silence. And a small moment where I got to be part of something big.

School Girls received critical acclaim and went on to win several Goya Awards, including Best Film, Best New Director, and Best Original Screenplay.

The Goya Awards are Spain’s most prestigious film honors, often compared to the Oscars. They recognize the best in Spanish cinema each year and are a symbol of artistic and cultural excellence.

Being part of a project that achieved this kind of recognition — even in a small role — was a powerful reminder of how far stories rooted in truth and simplicity can go.

I joined the production team of School Girls as a junior assistant during a few days of shooting. My role was brief and simple, but it was my first experience on a professional film set. I helped wherever I was needed, paid close attention, and absorbed everything I could.

Even though my time there was short, being part of a story like this — grounded, emotional, and deeply local — made me realize how powerful subtle storytelling can be. Las Niñas went on to win the Goya Award for Best Film, among other nominations, and knowing I witnessed part of that process makes me quietly proud.

It reminded me that no contribution is too small when you're present and willing to learn. It was just a few days, but it helped shape how I approach production and how I value every person behind a camera.
